This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Deliver actuarial expertise that bolsters the financial integrity of Select Health and Intermountain.
• Supervise the calculation and management of financial, ACA, Medicare, Medicaid, provider contracting, and pharmacy actuarial operations.
• Report to the Chief Actuary while collaborating with the CFO, Controller, AVPs, and regional leaders.
• Manage financial statements, monthly IBNR reserves, liabilities, forecasting models, management reporting, dynamic planning, audits, and annual statement actuarial tasks.
• Coordinate corporate trends and present findings to committees.
• Develop and submit ACA filings, support ACA strategies, manage risk adjustment accruals, and oversee MLR management.
• Offer expertise in provider contracting and value-based arrangement strategies and analytics.
• Direct the development of Medicare bid filings, submit to CMS, certify bids in HPMS, and conduct Medicare financial analyses.
• Oversee Medicaid actuarial analyses, negotiations, reporting, and financial assessments.
• Analyze fully insured large groups, self-funded plans, stop-loss, and commercial group products; develop underwriting factors and support commercial group strategies.
• Create and maintain pharmacy pricing models, perform forecasts, analyze costs and utilization, ensure regulatory compliance, and optimize pharmacy benefits.
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, or finance from an accredited institution.
• FSA and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries or Society of Actuaries with 12 years of relevant actuarial experience; or ASA and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries with 14 years of relevant actuarial experience.
• Minimum of 4 years in an actuarial managerial role.
• Comprehensive understanding of the underlying theory and implications of assumptions used in product development and maintenance.
• Familiarity with health insurance products.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Experience with management presentations.
• Proficiency in rate filings.
• Knowledge of Medicare bids.
• Expertise in Medicaid.
• Experience with reserving.
• Proficient in provider contracting.
• Effective communication of results.
• Knowledge of ACA regulations.
• Experience in IBNR development.
• Ability to communicate verbally, comprehend spoken information, and operate computers, telephones, and office equipment.
• Capability to see and read computer monitors and documents.
• Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods.
