This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

• In this distinctive role, you will be instrumental in the rate analysis and development of rate updates for an insurance program with nationwide significance.
• Your main responsibilities will include extracting, cleaning, and analyzing complex datasets utilizing your advanced SQL and Python skills.
• Candidates who can demonstrate the ability to solve real-world data challenges in a professional services setting will be given strong preference.
• Your analyses will integrate property, policy, and geographic data to support robust, data-driven rate recommendations.
• You will work alongside our GIS and catastrophe modeling teams to create and enhance predictive models, aiding in the establishment of fair and accurate premiums.
• Additionally, you will prepare comprehensive exhibits, charts, and interactive visualizations to effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• This role is deadline-driven, highly collaborative, and demands creativity and resilience as you adapt to new challenges, evolving methodologies, and the dynamic nature of property risk.
• Typical responsibilities will include various programmatic tasks such as reviewing data in preparation for analysis, ensuring results' accuracy and consistency (peer review), drafting reports, and maintaining documentation; predictive modeling and non-linear methods using primarily SQL and Python/R to support rate analyses; drafting written reports and Excel-based exhibits, as well as preparing other internal/external correspondence; and undertaking research projects of varying scope and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher, encompassing quantitative coursework in actuarial science, data science, mathematics, statistics, etc.
• A minimum of two actuarial exams, actively pursuing a credential from the Casualty Actuarial Society.
• At least one relevant internship or up to four years of professional actuarial experience.
• Significant proficiency with MS Excel and Word.
• Proficient in Python or R and SQL for data analysis.
• Candidates must be United States Citizens.
• Candidates must have a primary residence in the continental United States.
• Candidates must be capable and willing to obtain and maintain a United States Government-issued Public Trust security clearance.
