Accounts and Payroll Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the complete UK payroll process to ensure timely and accurate employee payments.

• Uphold payroll controls, which include managing approvals, reconciliations, variance assessments, and documentation.

• Oversee Accounts Payable operations, ensuring the precise processing of invoices and payments within established timelines.

• Keep precise accounting records using Xero.

• Execute payroll, Accounts Payable, and pertinent control-account reconciliations during the monthly closing period.

• Prepare VAT returns and maintain the necessary supporting records and reconciliations.

• Spot inefficient finance processes and implement effective improvements and automation.

• Develop scalable processes and controls to accommodate company growth in headcount and transactions.

• Work collaboratively with Finance, People, and other business stakeholders to address issues and enhance processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience managing UK payroll for small to medium-sized enterprises.

• Experience in handling payroll during significant periods of headcount expansion.

• Strong background in owning or managing an Accounts Payable function.

• Ability to process and supervise high volumes of invoices and payments with the necessary controls in place.

• Solid working knowledge of Xero.

• Experience in preparing UK VAT returns, including the requisite reconciliations and supporting documentation.

• Strong skills in reconciliation and accounting controls.

• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.

• Comfortable taking ownership of processes and pinpointing areas for improvement.

• Capable of working independently in a dynamic environment while collaborating effectively with others.

• Proficiency in English at C1 level or above.

• Familiarity with Deel is considered a plus.

• Experience in enhancing or automating payroll or Accounts Payable processes is beneficial.

• Background in a fast-growing company is advantageous.

• Experience in fintech, financial services, or another regulated environment is a plus.
