This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead and supervise a team of accountants and senior accountants, offering coaching, technical support, and ongoing feedback.
• Manage monthly accounting processes including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll entries, reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments.
• Serve as the primary accounting advisor and main point of contact for mid- to high-complexity client engagements.
• Prepare and deliver advanced financial reports, KPI dashboards, and budgets, complete with insights and recommendations.
• Conduct one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and semi-annual reviews.
• Assist in staffing, workload distribution, and scheduling within the team.
• Provide support for escalated technical accounting matters, client issues, and workflow impediments.
• Oversee client deliverables and approve financial statements, reconciliations, working papers, and month-end packages.
• Monitor client satisfaction, addressing concerns, scope discrepancies, and workflow challenges.
• Foster long-term client relationships through proactive communication and guidance.
• Manage the pod's gross margin, budget versus actual hours, KPIs, revenue retention, upsells, and workflow consistency.
• Collaborate with the Director of Operations on pricing strategies, resource allocation, and capacity planning.
• Identify opportunities for upselling and expansion while overseeing pod revenue performance.
• Lead initiatives for process improvement and ensure adherence to best practices, standard operating procedures, documentation standards, and internal controls.
• Assist with special projects, system enhancements, and backlog work.
• Work in partnership with Tax and Payroll teams and engage in internal meetings.
• 1–2 years of experience in team management.
• 1–2 years of experience in a controllership capacity or managing controllership-level duties.
• 2–3 years of client-facing experience in supporting monthly reporting.
• Strong proficiency in cloud accounting software, such as Xero and/or QBO.
• Must successfully complete a criminal background check and/or education/employment verification.
• High-speed internet access is required.
• Availability during core business hours is necessary.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Customer service-oriented with outstanding communication skills.
• Ability to adapt and effectively solve problems.
• Strong time management and multitasking capabilities.
• Collaborative mindset and initiative within team environments.
• Access to Excel or Google Sheets is essential for case activities.
• Some candidates may need to complete a QBO walkthrough.
