This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +8 more states.
• Oversee daily accounting functions and financial reporting for a rapidly growing multi-state mental health practice.
• Directly report to executive leadership while supervising an Accounting Coordinator.
• Manage cash flow, banking transactions, deposits, vendor payments, payroll funding, and cash needs.
• Supervise month-end, quarterly, and annual closing processes, general ledger oversight, bank reconciliations, and timely posting of financial data.
• Prepare and review financial statements, supporting schedules, and management commentary.
• Oversee accounts payable, corporate credit card programs, expense management, payroll postings, and provider disbursements.
• Review and reconcile provider compensation, productivity-based payments, bonuses, corrections, and related reporting.
• Assist with multi-state accounting and compliance needs, including state filings and payroll reconciliations.
• Maintain vendor W-9 documentation and manage the annual preparation and issuance of Form 1099.
• Uphold accounting policies and internal controls; collaborate with external CPA and tax partners.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and produce monthly departmental Budget vs. Actuals variance reports.
• Create financial reporting dashboards and develop financial models with forecasting and reforecasting capabilities.
• Reconcile insurance reimbursements, clearinghouse deposits, merchant fees, and revenue-cycle transactions to the general ledger.
• Collaborate with the RCM team to resolve discrepancies and ensure comprehensive, accurate reporting.
• Automate financial workflows, decrease reliance on spreadsheets, enhance controls, and expedite close timelines.
• Coordinate financial reviews, audits, due diligence requests, and external examinations.
• Manage and mentor the Accounting Coordinator.
• Collaborate with clinical, People Operations, and administrative leaders on expansion and operational strategies.
• Assist in the financial evaluation of vendor agreements, service contracts, expansion opportunities, and other commitments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field (Required).
• Over 5 years of progressive operational accounting experience, including general ledger management and month-end closing.
• In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and accrual accounting principles.
• Proven experience in accurate financial reporting, reconciliations, internal controls, and compliance.
• Healthcare, behavioral health, or multi-site clinical operations experience is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with medical billing, insurance reimbursement cycles, clearinghouses, and EHR integration is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a distributed/remote team environment.
• Experience in supervising, mentoring, or developing accounting professionals is advantageous.
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and bank/credit card feed integrations.
• High proficiency in Google Sheets/Excel, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/INDEX MATCH, data mapping, and financial modeling.
• Experience in assisting with annual organizational budgets, tracking departmental spending, and creating Budget vs. Actual variance reports.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace, project management tools such as Monday.com, and EHR platforms.
• Exceptional accuracy in reconciliations and record-keeping.
• Ability to identify data discrepancies and enhance processes.
• Capable of translating complex financial information into clear, actionable insights while maintaining confidentiality.
• CPA, CMA, or active pursuit of certification is preferred but not essential.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; work visa sponsorship is not available.
• Primary residence must be in Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, or Texas.
• Availability for Eastern Time business hours from Monday to Friday.
