Accounting Manager – AI & Automation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Manage accounting for a designated portfolio, primarily conducted through AI agents operating on Maynard in conjunction with AppFolio.

• Lead, supervise, and ensure quality control of AI agent outputs.

• Utilize AI for intricate reconciliations, troubleshoot accounting issues, and automate manual tasks.

• Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations.

• Assess AI- and system-generated entries and reports for precision, completeness, appropriate coding, and compliance with U.S. GAAP.

• Investigate and address discrepancies and discern when human intervention is necessary.

• Enhance agent workflows, prompts, rules, and controls in collaboration with the CFO and engineering team.

• Collaborate with three other Accounting Managers to produce accurate and timely financial statements.

• Manage the close calendar and transitions within the management team.

• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual closes while generating U.S. GAAP-compliant financials.

• Provide the CFO with variance analysis, supporting documentation, and management reports for lenders, owners, external tax preparers, and auditors.

• Ensure that balance-sheet accounts are reconciled and substantiated.

• Verify that AP and AR subledgers align with the general ledger.

• Investigate and resolve aged, unapplied, or exceptional items and document the solutions.

• Supervise accounts payable and receivable processing, payment runs, billings, receipts, and reconciliations.

• Oversee corporate accounting closures, including accruals, prepaids, intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and corporate financial statements.

• Manage client onboarding and offboarding accounting processes.

• Review property financial statements for unusual balances, misclassifications, and unreconciled items.

• Report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent professional experience).

• Strong accounting background with a solid understanding of general ledgers, reconciliations, and financial statements.

• In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and U.S. accounting practices, including accruals, reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures.

• Practical experience with AppFolio, encompassing transactions, configurations, and reporting.

• Genuine enthusiasm for AI tools such as Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT, or similar technologies.

• Analytical mindset and readiness to learn SQL, APIs, and automation techniques.

• Strong judgment in reviewing and identifying errors in accounting outputs.

• Capability to work autonomously and take ownership of intricate accounting challenges.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to collaborate with a U.S.-based leadership team and peer managers.

• Capacity to work remotely from the Philippines with reliable internet connectivity.

• Regular availability during U.S. Pacific business hours.

• Experience in U.S. property management, real estate, or multi-entity accounting settings is a plus.

• CPA (Philippines or U.S.) or equivalent professional certification is a plus.

• Familiarity with accounting automation, RPA, AI tools, or proprietary/custom accounting systems is a plus.

• Experience onboarding new properties/entities or transitioning balances from previous accounting systems is a plus.

• Comfort with navigating multiple AppFolio databases/tenants is a plus.
