Accounting Consultant – Founding Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Account Executives to gain insights into customers’ comprehensive GL and sub-ledger workflows.

• Facilitate accounting-oriented discovery sessions with Controllers, Accounting Managers, and Finance leaders.

• Assess ERP configurations, closing processes, and accounting policies.

• Identify which workflows can be automated, need configuration or sequencing, or should be excluded from scope.

• Specify the minimum data access and accounting artifacts necessary to define functionality and pricing.

• Contribute to shaping solution design and pricing while ensuring accounting accuracy, controls, and feasibility of delivery.

• Convert real-world accounting workflows into automated solutions utilizing Hyphenate.

• Configure Hyphenate to conform to customer accounting policies, ERP frameworks, and closing controls.

• Assist with pilots and initial implementations, focusing on accuracy, reconciliation integrity, and audit preparedness.

• Collaborate with Engineering and Accounting to clarify accounting logic, edge cases, and anticipated outputs.

• Ensure that pre-sale discovery results are accurately implemented in production.

• Serve as the internal accounting expert and work alongside Product and Engineering on roadmap decisions.

• Identify recurring accounting patterns, edge cases, and customer limitations.

• Assist in defining discovery, scoping, and implementation playbooks as Hyphenate expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7–10+ years of accounting experience, encompassing areas such as Public Accounting, Private Accounting, Technical Advisory, or Solutions.

• Proficient understanding of accounting details and associated technology.

• Practical experience with various enterprise ERP systems, ideally including at least two of NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and Oracle Fusion.

• Familiarity with close management tools like FloQast or BlackLine.

• Hands-on exposure to sub-ledgers, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), fixed assets, prepaids/amortization, and accruals.

• Strong grasp of accounting controls and audit considerations.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including handling large datasets, reconciliations, pivots, and complex formulas.

• Comfortable leading discovery and demonstration sessions with Controllers, Accounting Managers, and Finance leaders.

• Capable of making clear judgment calls in the face of incomplete or messy data.

• At ease working at the intersection of accounting and technology in early-stage environments.

• Big-4 experience is a plus.

• CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.

• Experience in scoping or delivering accounting automation projects is a plus.
