This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Ensure precise and comprehensive accounting records are maintained
• Handle the processing and recording of invoices, receipts, payments, deposits, journal entries, and adjustments
• Evaluate accounting documentation for completeness, accuracy, necessary approvals, and proper account coding
• Uphold the general ledger and subsidiary accounting records
• Generate account schedules, transaction summaries, aging reports, and various financial information
• Process vendor invoices, expense reports, payment requests, and accounts payable documentation
• Align invoices with purchase orders, contracts, receipts, policy records, or relevant supporting documentation
• Oversee invoice approvals, payment schedules, outstanding balances, and vendor inquiries
• Document customer receipts, insurance-related collections, refunds, and accounts receivable transactions
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies concerning invoices, payments, customer balances, vendors, carriers, and internal records
• Record and reconcile transactions related to insurance, including premiums, commissions, claims payments, recoveries, refunds, and carrier settlements
• Reconcile insurance subledgers, carrier statements, policy administration systems, claims systems, and general ledger accounts
• Prepare reconciliations for bank, credit card, accounts payable, accounts receivable, carrier, and general ledger
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, prepaid expenses, reclassifications, and cutoff procedures
• Support balance sheet schedules, income statement reports, cash reports, and management reporting packages
• Conduct basic variance analysis and examine changes in financial metrics
• Compile information for financial audits, tax submissions, regulatory reporting, and internal assessments
• Maintain accounting files, records, invoices, reports, and supporting documentation
• Adhere to accounting procedures, approval workflows, payment controls, and document retention policies
• Assist with internal control initiatives and identify processing errors or opportunities for process improvement
• Safeguard confidentiality and security of financial, customer, policyholder, claims, employee, and business information
• Carry out other accounting, reporting, and administrative tasks as assigned
• Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, finance, or a similar role
• Familiarity with fundamental accounting principles, double-entry accounting, debits and credits, and general ledger activities
• Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, payment processing, and account reconciliations
• Basic understanding of insurance accounting transactions, including premiums, commissions, claims, recoveries, and carrier payments
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas, sorting, filtering, and basic data analysis
• Experience with accounting software, enterprise resource planning systems, billing platforms, or financial reporting tools
• Strong attention to detail and dedication to accuracy
• Capable of organizing records, managing priorities, meeting deadlines, and adhering to established procedures
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
• Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism
• Preferred experience in insurance, accounting, public accounting, financial services, or professional services
• Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Xero, or similar systems is preferred
• Familiarity with U.S. GAAP, IFRS, statutory accounting principles, or insurance accounting practices is preferred
• Experience with bank reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, audit support, or expense tracking is preferred
• Progress towards an accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or related certification is preferred
• Advanced Excel skills are preferred
