Accountant – Australian Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Manage accounts payable from start to finish, which includes verifying supplier invoices, coding them in Xero, preparing payment runs, and ensuring timely payments to suppliers.

• Process expense reimbursements for team members, verify claims against policy, address discrepancies, and maintain a reliable turnaround time.

• Take ownership of monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, Stripe settlements, and essential ledger accounts.

• Oversee balance sheet accounts, ensuring reconciliations are maintained and month-end close workpapers are accurate.

• Highlight significant issues to the Financial Controller prior to the close week.

• Act as the primary point of contact for auditors, supplying samples, explaining workpapers, and upholding internal controls.

• Document recurring processes through written procedures.

• Identify and suggest enhancements to manual processes.

• Gradually transition into management accounting, analytical and reporting tasks, as well as process design.

⛳️ Requirements

• A commerce degree along with CA Inter, CMA Inter, part-qualified ACCA (discontinued is acceptable), or an M.Com.

• 2 to 4 years of practical accounting experience.

• Experience in reconciliation for bank, supplier, or settlement accounts.

• Proficient in Xero, including transaction coding, running bank feeds and reconciliations, and independently generating reports.

• Experience in maintaining balance sheet reconciliations or preparing workpapers for month-end closure.

• Excellent written English skills.

• Ability to work across the time difference between India and Australia.

• Familiarity with Australian accounting practices, including GST, BAS, or experience with Australian clients (preferred).

• Experience in supporting a statutory audit (preferred).

• Reconciliation work experience with Stripe or a similar payment platform (preferred).

• Background in a startup or multi-brand setting (preferred).
