Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Assist in the monthly general ledger closing and reporting process aiming for an initial 5-day close, with a target of 4 days.

• Execute P&L and Balance Sheet accounting across various functional areas, including accruals and prepaids, fixed assets, leases, payroll, intercompany transactions, cash and bank reconciliations, and AP/AR subledger activities.

• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, account analyses, and schedules.

• Investigate and analyze financial variances for monthly P&L and Balance Sheet fluctuations.

• Address accounting issues in a timely manner.

• Manage end-to-end closing activities across multiple disciplines simultaneously.

• Adjust priorities among accounting areas as necessary.

• Collaborate with AP, AR, Payroll, Treasury, FP&A, and site/business unit finance leaders to resolve issues at their source.

• Ensure alignment with Shared Service Accounting policies and best practices.

• Create business process documentation for essential activities.

• Assist in the onboarding of newly acquired entities into the shared services model, which includes chart of accounts mapping, opening balance validation, and transitioning close activities across various entities and ledgers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

• Over 5 years of progressive accounting experience.

• Direct involvement in at least two distinct accounting disciplines, such as general ledger, fixed assets, payroll, intercompany, or AP/AR.

• Experience in closing books for multiple entities, sites, or business units.

• Familiarity with major ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics, along with associated close/reconciliation tools.

• Background in navigating an ERP implementation or system consolidation.

• Previous experience in a shared services environment, multi-entity, or corporate accounting center of excellence.

• Proficient in applying accrual accounting for strict month-end close cut-off.

• Comfortable handling complex accounting issues.

• Knowledgeable in US GAAP.

• Strong Excel skills, including advanced formulas, XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, and pivot tables.
