Account Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Obtain necessary patient authorizations via payer portals and telephone communication.

• Address clinic inquiries through phone, email, and internal task management systems.

• Relay authorization approvals, denials, and status updates to healthcare providers.

• Collaborate with clinic personnel to resolve issues related to authorizations.

• Follow up with insurance companies regarding authorizations and claim payments, escalating concerns as needed.

• Manage daily workload to adhere to established productivity benchmarks.

• Recognize trends in denial, underpayment, and overpayment, escalating when necessary.

• Follow up on and resolve unpaid or outstanding accounts with payers.

• Maintain an understanding of HIPAA, OSHA, Risk Management, and compliance standards.

• Participate in mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, and denial management.

• Familiarity with clinic operations, including patient registration, referrals, authorizations, and cash collections.

• Knowledge of insurance reimbursement processes, authorization and collection practices, and practice management systems.

• Excellent attention to detail with the capability to manage multiple tasks while ensuring accuracy.

• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.

• Capacity to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive patient information.

• Proven leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively within clinic teams.
