This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Deliver personalized proactive advising to all assigned students.

• Enhance student persistence and success through orientation, familiarization with the learning platform, effective class scheduling, and monitoring degree progression towards graduation.

• Create course schedules for new, continuing, transfer, and reentry students in alignment with the curriculum's course sequencing, while providing advisement focused on academic advancement towards graduation in the most efficient timeframe for the student, tailored to their individual circumstances.

• Maintain direct communication with assigned students through phone, text, and email; respond to student inquiries within established timelines.

• Track students' attendance, grades, academic progress, and financial obligations, and develop success plans for at-risk students or those facing challenges, in collaboration with faculty, academic leadership, and university support services.

• Exhibit proficiency in understanding and communicating policies outlined in the University Catalog, Student Handbook, and Programmatic Handbooks that pertain to assigned students, including Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy, Attendance Policies, Academic Integrity/Academic Honesty Policies, Conduct Policies, and Appeals Procedures. Offer guidance to assigned students on academic processes such as grade disputes or appeals.

• Assist new students in acclimating to the academic environment prior to their first class by reviewing the enrollment procedure, providing an overview of the online or campus classroom, and discussing graduation progression options. Regularly audit student academic records to assess progression and candidacy for graduation.

• Support students reentering the university after withdrawal or dismissal with the reinstatement process, monitor their progress towards graduation, provide proactive advising, and implement interventions as necessary.

• Competently access and execute assigned responsibilities using the Student Information System, Learning Management System, and relevant databases.

• Ensure compliance with the management of student information by adhering to FERPA regulations and Record Management Policies.

• Engage in and successfully complete all academic counselor training and development activities; mentor new Academic Counselors and assist with onboarding as requested.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.

• 3-5 years of experience in academic advising or academic counseling.

• Customer service experience is preferred.

• Proficient basic computer software skills (MS Office) along with exposure to Customer Relationship Management Systems or Student Information Systems (preferably Campus Vue/Campus Nexus).

• Exceptional customer service skills, along with strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Strong interpersonal skills when interacting with students and faculty.

• Effective organizational and problem-solving capabilities.

• Ability to communicate and function effectively as a team member.

• Capable of developing productive relationships with students, colleagues, and supervisors in a virtual setting.

• Proficient in presenting information and addressing inquiries or requests from students, staff, and faculty.

• Able to generate and act on academic reports and forecasts.

• Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team and work jointly with other departments.

• Capable of adapting to changing tasks and managing multiple priorities.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while setting personal priorities and work schedules.
