
3D Graphics Engineer β Three.js, WebGL

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
β’ Develop and sustain our real-time rendering engine using Three.js and React Three Fiber.
β’ Implement and enhance rendering capabilities, including lighting (lightmaps, HDR and image-based lighting, ambient occlusion), anti-aliasing, materials, and post-processing effects.
β’ Integrate Gaussian splat captures with traditional mesh-based 3D content.
β’ Write and troubleshoot GLSL shaders and custom materials.
β’ Create camera systems, navigation tools, waypoints, and facilitate scene interaction.
β’ Manage the 3D asset pipeline, focusing on glTF and GLB optimization, Draco and mesh compression, KTX2 and Basis texture conversion, as well as lightmap baking.
β’ Analyze and enhance performance for frame rates, memory usage, and load times across constrained devices (such as tablets and kiosks) and large displays.
β’ Utilize spatial structures (BVH) for efficient raycasting, picking, and pathfinding.
β’ Develop diagnostic tools and debugging instruments that ensure measurable visual quality and performance.
β’ Collaborate with full stack and web developers to provide clean, well-documented renderer APIs for the web application.
β’ Work alongside 3D capture, content, and design teams to incorporate real spaces and designs into the engine.
β’ Contribute to the Nx monorepo by enforcing strong testing protocols, code reviews, and comprehensive documentation.
β’ Assist in shaping the technical vision for immersive and photorealistic experiences.
β’ 3 to 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a notable focus on real-time 3D or graphics.
β’ Extensive expertise in Three.js (experience with React Three Fiber is highly advantageous).
β’ Strong background in WebGL and GLSL shader programming.
β’ Proficient in TypeScript or JavaScript.
β’ Familiarity with 3D asset formats and processing pipelines (including glTF and GLB, textures, and compression techniques).
β’ Solid understanding of 3D mathematics (vectors, matrices, quaternions, transformations, and camera systems).
β’ Experience in profiling and optimizing rendering performance and memory consumption.
β’ A keen eye for visual quality, lighting, and intricate details.
