This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as an ambassador for our fly fishing initiatives, ensuring the integration of 5 Rivers, TU Student Clubs, and camps into local staff, council, and chapter engagement strategies, covering everything from grant acquisition to program execution.
• Supervise the design, development, and implementation of programs for high school and college students.
• Collaborate closely with high school and college clubs, focusing on member recruitment and the organization and operations of clubs.
• Enhance the growth of fly fishing programs through lead generation, onboarding of clubs, and providing ongoing support throughout the year.
• Conduct outreach efforts and work with grassroots volunteers to identify and recruit new college club programs.
• Engage both new and existing leaders of 5 Rivers and TU Student Clubs through regular communication and virtual meetings.
• Organize and manage annual in-person events, such as the 5 Rivers Regional Rendezvous series and the Ambassador Summit.
• Assist state-level camp directors by facilitating quarterly conference calls, developing and distributing materials, and conducting volunteer background checks.
• Oversee TU memberships for the Student Club, 5 Rivers, and camp networks.
• Create and implement strategies aimed at growing and engaging the 5 Rivers Alumni network.
• Develop and manage budgets for programs.
• Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment, encouraging cross-functional teamwork, knowledge exchange, and a culture of continuous learning.
• Provide support and guidance to the 5 Rivers Social Media Intern to ensure effective social media outreach.
• Work with the Emerging Podcast Intern to aid in network growth and effective messaging.
• Collaborate with TU’s development staff and the Youth Programs Manager to assist with program-specific fundraising efforts, which may include engaging established individual donors, foundations, and corporations.
• Foster alternative fundraising methods such as crowdfunding, raffles, and sweepstakes.
• Build and maintain relationships with new and existing TU Student Clubs and 5 Rivers partnerships within the outdoor industry.
• A bachelor’s degree.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and manage logistics for multi-day in-person events.
• A strong passion for fly fishing.
• Excellent public speaking abilities.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• A minimum of one year of experience in youth education, outreach, volunteer management, community organizing, nonprofit programming, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and project management capabilities, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal oversight.
• Creative, strategic, and collaborative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to listen to and mediate diverse viewpoints, along with conflict management skills.
• Strong networking and partnership development skills, with a background in collaborating with educational institutions, governmental agencies, NGOs, and community organizations.
• A commitment to building strong relationships with team members and diverse partners.
• A strong commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• A deep passion for TU’s mission.
• A love for trout and salmon and their natural habitats.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a good sense of humor.
• Willingness and ability to travel for approximately 5-6 events each year.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Availability to work occasional weekends and evenings, with overtime pay when applicable.
• Wilderness First Aid certification or a willingness to obtain it.
