This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Conduct investigations into potential breaches of U.S. and international export control laws and regulations.

• Prepare disclosures to both U.S. and international government agencies regarding any identified violations of export control laws.

• Oversee a dynamic investigative caseload utilizing RTX’s matter management system.

• Collaborate effectively with the broader Global Trade team at Collins Aerospace to uncover the underlying causes of regulatory infractions and to establish comprehensive corrective measures.

• Update Corporate and Collins Aerospace leadership on the progress of ongoing global trade investigations.

• Record the resolution of cases that do not raise reasonable suspicions of regulatory violations.

• Address governmental inquiries and respond to data requests.

• Provide legal counsel to Collins Aerospace’s strategic business units concerning export control laws and regulations, proposing compliant solutions to fulfill business goals.

• Monitor and react to changes in U.S. and international export control laws, offering legal insights regarding these developments.

• Aid in the formulation, execution, enhancement, and maintenance of policies, standard practices, and processes related to global trade compliance at Collins Aerospace and RTX.


⛳️ Requirements

• Generally requires a University Degree along with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with at least 10 years of experience.

• Must possess and maintain an active bar license in the jurisdiction where you will be working.

• At least 10 years of legal experience focused on Global Trade.

• Comprehensive understanding of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

• Juris Doctor Degree is preferred.

• A minimum of five years of experience in a law firm dealing with export control issues and/or in a government agency responsible for enforcing export control laws and regulations.

• Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.

• Extensive experience in legal writing, with the capability to draft detailed submissions in a clear, concise, and coherent manner under tight deadlines.

• Must demonstrate strong leadership abilities and be an effective individual contributor, showcasing excellent judgment and professional maturity.

• Previous experience in the aerospace and defense sector is desirable.

• Familiarity with non-U.S. export control laws is a plus.

• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize competing deadlines, and swiftly adapt to sudden, unexpected needs, including those requiring attention beyond normal business hours.

• Effectively and promptly provide guidance, partnership, and practical solutions to the business, including the capacity to devise creative yet compliant solutions to meet business objectives.

• Confidently conduct training for stakeholders and present information to senior management.

• Ability to work independently with minimal daily supervision and achieve results in a setting with limited oversight.

• Maintain composure and calmness under pressure in a fast-paced environment with rapidly shifting demands, while remaining collegial in the face of disagreements and stakeholder pushback.

• A continuous willingness to learn, remain open to alternative and innovative approaches and solutions, and accept candid, real-time feedback on performance from multiple stakeholders.
