Youth Empowerment Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Provides leadership and guidance to enhance support and resources for Youth and Young Adults.

• Carries out a variety of tasks to support community activities aimed at helping youth and young adults develop advocacy skills.

• Engages in all tiers of the care system and is accountable for fostering continuous quality improvement for all initiatives and positions supporting youth.

• Aids in identifying and creating opportunities for community partnerships, member involvement, and health literacy/education initiatives.

• Directs the Magellan Youth Leaders Inspiring Future Empowerment (MY LIFE) program, including the development of youth leadership opportunities and mentorship for young leaders.

• Demonstrates and collaborates to establish problem-solving strategies with members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience as an advocate for mental health or substance use.

• Must be a self-identified individual in recovery with personal experience in mental health, substance use, or foster care services.

• Must fulfill eligibility criteria for Youth Peer Specialist certification and obtain certification within six months of hire.

• Must secure NCPS/NCPRSS/National Peer Support Credential within one year of employment.

• Involvement in membership or leadership roles in peer support advocacy organizations, self-help groups, associations, or technical assistance centers.

• Capable of making decisions that require substantial analysis of solutions.

• Possesses a positive outlook that conveys hope and a recovery-oriented mindset.

• Must have a reliable vehicle in good working condition with the ability to travel regularly within the field.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Product Suite.

• Familiarity with behavioral health and community systems, wellness strategies, resilience, and recovery principles, practices, and tools.
