
Workers Compensation Claims Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Oversee various teams of workers' compensation examiners and technical personnel
• Track colleagues' workloads and monitor individual claim activities
• Offer training and provide technical/jurisdictional guidance on claim adjudication reports
• Keep up with claim diaries, including frequent updates for complex or high-exposure claims
• Evaluate and process intricate or technically challenging claims through investigation and information gathering
• Direct claims via action plans to ensure timely and appropriate resolutions
• Manage the litigation process while ensuring cost-effective claim resolutions
• Facilitate vendor referrals for investigation and litigation management
• Lead team meetings and assign responsibility for follow-up tasks
• Collect compliance and claims-processing data for team meetings
• Assist in interviewing adjusters and clerical staff, providing feedback to the hiring manager
• Support monthly reviews of adjuster workloads, identify trends, and recommend adjustments
• Administer personnel policies, adhering to staffing and training standards
• Conduct interviews, hire staff, establish performance development plans, and engage in performance discussions
• Offer support, guidance, leadership, and motivation to encourage optimal performance
• May supervise up to three direct reports
• Minimum of 5 years in claims management or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
• A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory
• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
• Professional certification relevant to the line of business is desired
• Knowledge and licensing related to CA or NV jurisdiction is required
• Supervisory experience along with expertise in workers' compensation claims
• Proficient in investigating and gathering information to assess claim exposure
• Capable of managing litigation and claims resolution
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and adhere to deadlines
• Strong clear and conceptual thinking skills
• Excellent judgment, problem-solving, analysis, and discretion
• Capability to manage work-related stress
• Proficient in computer keyboarding
• Ability to hear, see, and communicate effectively
