Welding Engineer – Inspector

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Responsible for providing technical support by independently assessing and verifying compliance of welding procedures, welder qualifications, and associated manufacturing activities with relevant codes, harmonized standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Observe onsite testing of welding processes, weld procedure, and welder performance qualification testing, as well as laboratory testing in accordance with ASME IX, EN ISO 15614, EN ISO 9606, and related standards at customer locations when required.

• Evaluate documentation and laboratory reports, including MTRs for base metals and consumables, equipment calibration records, VT (Visual Testing), UT (Ultrasonic Testing), PT (Liquid Penetrant Testing), and RT (Radiographic Testing) to ensure adherence to standards such as ASME IX, EN ISO 9606, or EN ISO 15614.

• Generate Welding Procedure Qualification Records and Welder Test Certificates for qualifications that have been satisfactorily completed, including those tested under the supervision of other specialists.

• Conduct a preliminary review of Welding Procedure Qualification Records and Welder Test certificates prior to submission to the Notified Body.

• Liaise and resolve technical issues with the Notified Body responsible for the final approval of permanent joining activities.

• Act as the primary client contact: responsible for addressing welding inquiries, preparing quote requests, and supplying necessary welding information.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

• Active AWS CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience with AWS, ASME IX, or a similar standard.

• At least 3 years of experience with NDE/NDT methods.

• Comprehensive understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, and welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, LBW, PAW).

• Valid driver's license.

• Willingness to travel up to 50% domestically and up to 10% internationally.

• Physical Requirements: Adequate near and far visual acuity, with or without correction, is necessary for conducting visual inspections, reading instruments, and interpreting engineering drawings.

• The position entails exposure to various weather conditions, including temperature fluctuations, welding fumes, noise, and bright arc light, necessitating the consistent use of full personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

• A pre-employment background check and drug screening will be conducted.
