Web Design and Usability, UX Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Create and implement templates, guidelines, standards, and principles centered around human design.

• Organize, oversee, and conduct usability testing for all significant releases.

• Collaborate effectively with client subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to pinpoint and develop high-demand scenarios, profiles, screeners, and prototypes.

• Initiate changes to enhance usability based on feedback from constituents and employees.

• Partner with project teams to ensure that designs function as intended in real-world applications.

• Share usability insights and deliverables with a diverse range of stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Human Factors, Graphic Design, Interaction/Visual Design, or a related discipline.

• At least 4 years of experience applying Human Factors and Human-Centered Design (HCD) principles to complex interface challenges.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in visual interface design for digital media across web and mobile platforms.

• At least 4 years of experience in planning, executing, and analyzing user experience research projects.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in conveying research methodologies, design concepts, data analysis, and usability test outcomes to a wide array of stakeholders.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the capability to lead design sessions and reviews.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse audience including executives, managers, and subject matter experts (both technical and non-technical).

• Prior experience with the State of California is preferred.

• At least 1 year of experience with Ovo Studios CaptureUX is preferred.

• A minimum of 1 year of experience implementing the California Statewide usability standards, including the California Web Usability Guidelines and Standards and the California Governor’s Template for External Facing Applications, is preferred.
