
Water Treatment Process Engineer – Remote Monitoring

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Oversee water treatment plant parameters (such as pH, turbidity, flux, flow rates, and chemical dosing) using SCADA, IoT, or cloud-based monitoring systems.
• Evaluate operational data to pinpoint opportunities for enhancing processes, reducing costs, saving energy, and improving treatment efficiency.
• Execute real-time modifications to process controls, alarm configurations, and automation systems to ensure optimal treatment outcomes.
• Formulate process control strategies and establish operational best practices for reverse osmosis treatment systems.
• Carry out root cause analyses of operational challenges and suggest corrective measures to plant personnel.
• Assist in the startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance evaluation of treatment systems.
• Create standard operating procedures (SOPs), dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), technical reports, and analytical tools to monitor facility efficiency and operational trends.
• Set up alarm management protocols and escalation procedures.
• Ensure continuous monitoring coverage and prompt responses to critical system events.
• Propel continuous enhancement of remote monitoring capabilities and associated technologies.
• Analyze operational, process, and asset performance data to discover trends and optimization possibilities.
• Develop predictive monitoring and performance management tools.
• Utilize monitoring data to foresee equipment failures and proactively plan maintenance.
• Offer technical guidance and support to engineering, rental, and site services teams.
• Act as the subject matter expert for treatment processes and process control systems.
• Conduct training for operators on process optimization and monitoring systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering field.
• At least five (5+) years of experience in water or wastewater treatment, process engineering, industrial automation, process optimization, or remote operations monitoring.
• In-depth knowledge of water and wastewater treatment technologies, regulatory standards, and treatment processes.
• Proficient in data analytics, process modeling, statistical analysis, and performance monitoring using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and Excel.
• Proven capability to analyze operational data, troubleshoot complex process challenges, and implement process enhancements.
• Experience in supporting multiple facilities, remote operations centers, or centralized monitoring initiatives.
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, communication, and teamwork skills.
