This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Conduct research, planning, and execution of FAA certification processes for commercial aircraft seats and their components.
• Execute standard engineering tasks and facilitate engineering solutions and design determinations.
• Oversee internal technical and design evaluations for the Flammability Certification team.
• Assemble FAA certification documentation for submission to commercial aircraft OEMs and regulatory bodies.
• Offer technical leadership and support to cross-functional teams.
• Assist with the certification of seating products within the Main Cabin Flammability Certification team.
• A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related discipline.
• A bachelor’s degree with a focus on mechanical, aeronautical, civil, chemical, textile, or other pertinent engineering fields, as specified by the FAA agreement.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person.
• Ability to access ITAR or 600/500-series EAR information or hardware.
• Proven capacity to work efficiently and collaboratively with team members and cross-functional groups.
• Competence in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Familiarity with FAA and EASA rules, regulations, policy memos, guidance materials, and standards concerning aircraft seat certification is preferred.
• Experience with TC, STC, PMA, or TSO certification processes is preferred.
• Background in materials and processes relevant to aircraft interiors design is preferred.
• Previous experience in the aerospace sector, particularly in aircraft interiors, is preferred.
• Prior experience in reviewing and approving engineering drawings is preferred.
• Proficiency in engineering-related software applications is preferred.
