This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Oversee the parameters of water treatment plants (such as pH, turbidity, flux, flow rates, and chemical dosing) utilizing SCADA, IoT, or cloud-based monitoring systems.
• Evaluate operational data to discover opportunities for enhancing processes, reducing costs, conserving energy, and improving treatment performance.
• Make real-time modifications to process controls, alarm configurations, and automation systems to ensure optimal treatment performance.
• Formulate process control strategies and operational best practices for reverse osmosis treatment systems.
• Conduct root cause analyses for operational challenges and propose corrective measures to customer plant personnel.
• Assist in the startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance evaluation of treatment systems.
• Create standard operating procedures (SOPs), dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), technical reports, and reporting tools to monitor facility performance and operational trends.
• Establish protocols for alarm management and escalation procedures.
• Guarantee consistent monitoring coverage and prompt responses to critical system events.
• Propel the continuous enhancement of remote monitoring capabilities and associated technologies.
• Analyze operational, process, and asset performance data to spot trends and optimization possibilities.
• Develop predictive monitoring and performance management tools.
• Utilize monitoring data to foresee equipment failures and proactively arrange maintenance schedules.
• Apply statistical analysis and process modeling tools to bolster operational decision-making.
• Offer technical guidance and support to engineering, rental, and site services teams.
• Act as the subject matter expert for treatment processes and process control systems.
• Conduct training for operators on process optimization and monitoring systems.
• Set performance metrics and operational goals for the remote monitoring program.
• Collaborate with the Chief Technology Officer to enhance the program and incorporate machine learning capabilities for the remote monitoring initiative.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering field.
• A minimum of five (5+) years of experience in water or wastewater treatment, process engineering, industrial automation, process optimization, or remote operations monitoring.
• In-depth knowledge of water and wastewater treatment technologies, regulatory standards, and treatment processes, which include membrane systems, biological treatment, nutrient removal, and industrial water applications.
• Expertise in data analytics, process modeling, statistical analysis, and performance monitoring utilizing tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and Excel; familiarity with advanced process control, predictive analytics, or machine learning is an advantage.
• Proven capacity to analyze operational data, resolve complex process challenges, and enact process improvements that boost performance, reliability, compliance, and efficiency.
• Experience in supporting multiple facilities, remote operations centers, or centralized monitoring programs while effectively balancing competing priorities.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, communication, and collaboration abilities, complemented by a customer-oriented and continuous improvement mindset.
