IAM Federation Services Engineer, Okta

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Creating and executing federation identity and access management solutions that meet business needs.

• Integrating federation technologies with enterprise and cloud systems (e.g., Active Directory, HR systems, cloud applications) utilizing standards such as SAML 2.0, OIDC, and OAuth 2.0.

• Developing and sustaining custom authentication experiences by harnessing Okta APIs, SDKs, and widget-based login flows.

• Configuring and supporting various MFA technologies, including PingID, Okta Verify, MS Authenticator, FIDO2, biometric, and OTP/push authentication.

• Diagnosing and resolving federation authentication and authorization issues, which includes analyzing logs and addressing user provisioning challenges.

• Monitoring, enhancing, and ensuring the scalability and performance of federation infrastructure.

• Offering technical guidance and support to administrators and end-users on federation-related matters.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, vendors, and external partners to identify integration opportunities and improve federation capabilities.

• Documenting federation configurations, processes, and procedures; staying informed about industry trends and suggesting improvements for continuous enhancement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience or a Master’s degree with 4 years of experience.

• At least 4 years of experience with Okta and Ping Federate.

• Advanced proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and management of identity systems.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work in a dynamic, global environment.

• Relevant certifications in federation technologies (such as Okta Certified Administrator, Ping Federate / PingOne Certified, or Microsoft Entra ID) are advantageous.

• Experience in supporting large-scale environments (10,000+ users; 80,000+ users preferred).

• Understanding of security best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
