This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +2 more states.
β’ Participate in meetings with Owners, Utilities, and stakeholders as requested by the Commissioning Manager (PM).
β’ Create Testing & Commissioning (T&C) Plans that comply with project specifications, utility interconnection requirements, and industry standards.
β’ Develop, review, and implement comprehensive Initial Energization Procedures for HV substations, BESS facilities, and PV AC Power collection systems.
β’ Lead and assist in initial substation energization tasks, including readiness verification and field coordination.
β’ Conduct high voltage switching operations as necessary for initial energization and commissioning tasks.
β’ Perform or coordinate harmonic measurements and power quality assessments during commissioning and after energization.
β’ Create operational and training documentation for substations and provide onsite training to Owners and Operations personnel.
β’ Offer post-energization technical assistance, including system monitoring, troubleshooting, and commissioning closure activities.
β’ Provide on-call technical support for site incidents, including system trips and abnormal operating conditions.
β’ Review EPC contract exhibits and project documentation to outline the Testing & Commissioning scope of work and division of responsibility (DOR).
β’ Deliver onsite training and mentor junior staff.
β’ Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
β’ A minimum of 8β10 years of experience in testing and commissioning HV substations, BESS, and utility-scale PV facilities.
β’ 3-4 years of experience in performing and directing high voltage switching operations.
β’ Strong technical expertise in protection and control systems, power quality, and harmonic analysis.
β’ 1-2 years of experience in developing commissioning plans, energization procedures, and technical training materials.
β’ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with Owners, Utilities, and internal stakeholders.
β’ Proven dedication to safety, evidenced by an excellent safety record, consistent compliance with company and client safety programs, and adherence to applicable OSHA, NFPA 70E, and utility switching and clearance procedures, including work in energized and high-risk electrical environments.
β’ Electrical Engineer or 10 years of experience in utility-scale substation testing or operations.
β’ Experience with high voltage switching.
β’ NETA Certification (Level II, III, or IV).
β’ Familiarity with harmonic analyzers and power quality monitoring equipment.
β’ Experience in supporting post-energization operations or warranty periods.
