VRI/OPI Interpreter, Haitian Creole

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Dominica.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be prepared to take notes during calls.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific vocabulary relevant to the industry in which you interpret, particularly in healthcare and medical contexts.

• Accurately and completely convey all messages without adding, omitting, or substituting any content.

• Deliver exceptional customer service during interpreting sessions.

• Facilitate effective communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients by providing precise and complete interpretation of messages.

• Uphold professional standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training opportunities.

• Show enthusiasm for obtaining new professional certifications.

• Maintain communication and provide reports to your team leader.

• Adhere to dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in the source language (English) and a native speaker of the target language "Haitian Creole".

• A minimum of 1 year of telephone interpretation experience with a reputable interpretation company.

• Strong understanding of medical terminology.

• Knowledge of legal terminology is an advantage.

• International certifications in the healthcare sector are a plus (e.g., PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.).

• High school diploma in your native language.

• High emotional intelligence and an ability to be tolerant of diverse cultures.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.
