VRI/OPI Interpretation Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Cape Verde.

📋 Description

• Professionally handle incoming calls, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be prepared to take notes during calls.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific vocabulary relevant to the industry in which you will be interpreting (particularly in healthcare and medical fields) - training will be provided.

• Accurately and completely convey all messages without adding, omitting, or altering content.

• Deliver the highest standard of customer service while interpreting.

• Facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients by providing precise and complete interpretation of the messages.

• Adhere to established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training sessions.

• Demonstrate a willingness to obtain new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report regularly to your team leader.

• Follow dress code guidelines for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in the source language (English) and a native speaker of the target language "Cape Verdean Creole".

• At least 1 year of experience in telephone interpretation with a reputable interpretation company is advantageous, though not required.

• A solid understanding of medical terminology is an asset, but not essential.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is a bonus.

• International certifications related to the healthcare industry are beneficial (such as PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.).

• A high school diploma in your native language.

• Possess high emotional intelligence and tolerance for diverse cultures.

• Exceptional communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention abilities.
