This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Provide both strategic and tactical oversight for the loan underwriting teams, ensuring that loans progress through the pipeline promptly in accordance with service level agreements and regulatory standards.
• Develop, implement, and uphold operational policies and procedures to promote efficiency, loan quality, and compliance with agency, investor, federal, and state regulations.
• Lead projects aimed at improving workflow through process optimization, automation, and technological solutions, collaborating with internal teams to ensure smooth integration and adoption.
• Establish and monitor productivity, quality, compliance, and service benchmarks; track performance metrics; and generate regular reports and analyses to identify trends, mitigate risks, and uphold operational excellence.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop functional managers and staff, cultivating an engaged, collaborative, and high-performing team environment.
• Oversee talent acquisition, retention strategies, training programs, and initiatives for career development.
• Collaborate with sales, underwriting, closing/funding, and other internal departments to maintain alignment, resolve escalations, and support an exceptional customer and partner experience.
• Steer the team through organizational, procedural, or system changes, ensuring smooth transitions with minimal disruption to productivity and service.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field is required.
• A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in mortgage underwriting, product management, and originations.
• At least ten (10) years of leadership experience in mortgage industry underwriting.
• Experience in managing remote employees is essential.
• Proven strong leadership capabilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to effectively interact with both external and internal clients across various departments and locations.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
• Familiarity with mortgage loan documents, loan origination programs, and underwriting guidelines.
• A commitment to delivering quality customer service.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Well-organized with the capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Proficient in all compliance-related regulations, including RESPA and TRID.
• Strong mathematical abilities.
• Proficient in MS Office products and experienced with mortgage origination systems, with a preference for Encompass experience.
