VP, Product & Engineering

Posted Jul 17

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the entire product roadmap, from customer discovery to prioritization, specification, and delivery.

• Conduct frequent customer interviews and collaborate closely with the Sales and Energy Markets teams to identify and prioritize features and functions that deliver maximum value.

• Convert customer requirements and market demands into precise, actionable product specifications and engineering priorities.

• Develop and uphold a structured, transparent roadmap that aligns the entire leadership team on what is being built, the reasons behind it, and the timeline.

• Collaborate with Sales and Customer Operations to ensure that new features are communicated effectively, adopted, and yield positive outcomes for customers.

• Work alongside the Sales team to showcase the platform to prospective and existing customers — serving as a credible and persuasive advocate for AGent's offerings and future direction.

• Make clear prioritization decisions: you know when to decline requests and can articulate the rationale behind those choices.

• Lead, nurture, and develop a team of engineers and product managers — individuals who have previously worked with you would eagerly follow your lead.

• Establish and maintain the engineering rhythm: including sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, timely delivery, and accountability.

• Oversee the technology architecture: ensure AGent's platform is scalable, secure, and capable of supporting 24/7 mission-critical operations.

• Identify and manage technology outsourcing partnerships that enhance AGent's internal capabilities.

• Make swift, informed decisions regarding build-versus-buy-versus-partner strategies that optimize for speed, cost, and long-term scalability.

• Develop and track unit economics for the technology platform (hardware BOM, cloud infrastructure costs, etc.).

• Introduce and maintain an operational structure and planning rigor that keeps engineering on schedule and leadership updated.

• Create and uphold stringent delivery timelines — while holding the team accountable for meeting them.

• Proactively identify and address blockers; escalate risks to the CEO before they escalate into significant issues.

• Ensure that interim solutions and partners are in place as needed to support simultaneous sales and customer commitments.

• Provide regular updates to the board and leadership team on the technology roadmap, product milestones, and team performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in a senior technology leadership position such as VP of Product, VP of Engineering, or CTO at a rapidly growing technology company.

• Proven background in product management — you have developed and owned roadmaps, conducted customer discovery, and made prioritization decisions under pressure.

• A solid track record of delivering products on time, effectively managing engineering teams, and creating operational structures in dynamic environments.

• Strong instincts in system architecture and design: you know how to construct scalable platforms.

• Comfortable and self-assured in presenting and demonstrating the platform to prospects, customers, and partners: you can convey technical capabilities as business value effectively.

• Experience in building and leading cross-functional teams comprising engineers and product managers.

• Exceptional communicator: capable of presenting to a board, interviewing a customer, and providing clear feedback to a junior engineer within the same day.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote startup environment where self-motivation is crucial.

• A deep passion for technology and the energy sector.

🏝️ Benefits

• Competitive base salary, performance bonuses, and early-stage equity opportunities.

• 100% employer-covered Health, Dental, and Vision premiums for full-time employees.

• Two health plan options: a traditional plan with FSA, or an HDHP with company-funded HSA.

• Basic Term Life Insurance plus optional voluntary insurance plans.

• Flexible paid time off (PTO).

• Fully remote work environment — operate from anywhere within the U.S.

• Direct access to the founding team and significant ownership of your work from day one.

• A front-row seat to the energy transition.
