VP, Payments Engineering

• Oversee various global software engineering teams that are responsible for Payments platforms and services.

• Foster an engineering culture that emphasizes innovation, accountability, operational excellence, and ongoing learning.

• Attract, nurture, and retain outstanding engineering talent.

• Mentor engineering leaders and cultivate a robust leadership pipeline.

• Take ownership of engineering delivery for Payments initiatives.

• Convert technology strategy into actionable roadmaps.

• Provide consistent, high-quality software that meets customer and business commitments.

• Propel engineering execution across diverse product domains and shared platform capabilities.

• Champion the adoption of AI-native engineering practices throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Direct engineering efforts for highly available payment platforms that encompass virtual payments, accounts payable, payment orchestration, payment processing, embedded payments, treasury and settlement, commercial card platforms, and API-first payment functionalities.

• Create highly scalable cloud-native systems for enterprise clients across the globe.

• Collaborate with Product, Payments Technology, Commercial, Enterprise Architecture, Security Operations, Customer Success, Finance, and external partners.

• Develop reusable payment capabilities to expedite platform convergence.

• Enhance engineering productivity, minimize technical debt, and standardize engineering practices.

• Lead cloud modernization efforts and facilitate intelligent automation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 20 years of experience in software engineering.

• At least 12 years of experience in leading large engineering organizations.

• Extensive experience in developing modern payment systems, financial platforms, or highly regulated transaction-processing platforms.

• Profound understanding of authorization, settlement, reconciliation, treasury, commercial payments, payment networks, APIs, and payment operations.

• Proven track record in delivering cloud-native distributed systems at an enterprise scale.

• Strong technical expertise in modern architectures, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, Kubernetes, public cloud, observability, resilience, and security.

• Demonstrated success in leading organizational transformation.

• Strong history of software delivery with reliable execution across multiple teams.

• Experience in managing globally distributed engineering teams.

• Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Preferred: experience with a leading payments or fintech company.

• Preferred: experience in building AI-native engineering organizations.

• Preferred: experience with implementing AI-assisted software development tools.

• Preferred: experience in modernizing legacy platforms.

• Preferred: experience in platform engineering and enhancing developer productivity.

• Preferred: experience in leading large-scale cloud migrations.

• An MBA or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
