VP of Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Develop, manage, and oversee Share's network-facing infrastructure.

• Set up FreeRADIUS servers and create deployment scripts.

• Diagnose authentication issues on production networks.

• Design infrastructure that accommodates scaling from 10 ISP clients to 500.

• Recruit and lead the systems engineering team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional experience in systems engineering or network engineering, including complete ownership of the RADIUS/network-authentication function in a production ISP or telecommunications setting (FreeRADIUS, Radiator, or NPS), along with experience in leading or mentoring other engineers.

• In-depth understanding of FreeRADIUS. You are capable of configuring virtual servers, writing unlang policies, establishing proxy realms, setting up SQL modules, and troubleshooting authentication failures using packet captures.

• Proficient in Linux systems administration. You manage production servers, create deployment scripts, configure firewalls, and resolve networking issues at the OS level.

• Knowledgeable in PPPoE authentication, DHCP, IP pool management, and the interaction between BNGs and RADIUS servers. While you don't need to be a MikroTik expert, you should understand the expectations BNGs have from RADIUS.

• Experience in deploying and managing infrastructure in production environments—not just development settings. You comprehend uptime requirements, failover strategies, and the implications of a RADIUS server outage (subscribers unable to authenticate).

• Comfortable with scripting and basic application development. While you are not required to be a full-stack developer, you should be able to write and maintain a Hono/Express API, interact with SQL databases, and automate deployments.
