VP of Software Engineering

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with the CEO and the executive leadership team to define and implement the engineering strategy that aligns with Sapio’s product and commercial growth objectives.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering managers, technical leads, and senior engineers, fostering the development of future leaders within the organization.

• Direct architectural guidance and technical decision-making to guarantee the platform's scalability, maintainability, and long-term product integrity.

• Ensure structured oversight of engineering delivery, including resource allocation, prioritization, release planning, and timeline management to achieve predictable, high-quality execution.

• Enhance engineering processes, delivery predictability, and operational excellence while preserving the agility expected in a scaling environment.

• Work collaboratively with Product, AI, Solutions, and Commercial teams to guarantee that engineering outcomes are in line with customer and market demands.

• Aid in the ongoing development of our low-code/no-code platform and the integration of AI-driven features into our product ecosystem.

• Fortify engineering governance, quality standards, and security posture as the organization continues to expand globally.

• Offer executive-level technical insights to support business planning, investment strategies, and organizational growth.

• Advocate for a collaborative and transparent engineering culture that balances innovation with accountability.

• Ensure that engineering teams remain focused on delivering measurable customer value rather than merely technical output.

⛳️ Requirements

• A robust technical foundation, having begun your career as a software engineer before advancing into senior engineering leadership positions.

• Demonstrated experience in leading engineering teams within SaaS scale-ups, preferably in private equity-backed or high-growth settings.

• Serve as a credible and persuasive technical ambassador for Sapio, engaging confidently with customers, partners, and prospects to clearly articulate our engineering vision, product roadmap, and platform direction.

• Proven ability to effectively operate between executive leadership and hands-on engineering teams, serving as a trusted translator between business strategy and technical execution.

• Experience in leading well-established engineering teams that are product subject matter experts (SMEs).

• A pragmatic and measured leadership style, with the capacity to build on existing strengths while thoughtfully advancing engineering maturity.

• Strong grasp of modern software architecture, cloud-native platforms, and scalable enterprise software development.

• Experience in balancing long-term technical strategy with immediate delivery commitments.

• Exceptional stakeholder management abilities, including comfort in engaging directly with board-level and executive leadership.

• A leadership style that prioritizes coaching, mentorship, and empowerment, coupled with the capability to provide decisive management when context and urgency necessitate it.
