This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the daily engineering operations in a hands-on managerial role, ensuring that priorities, ownership, timelines, risks, dependencies, and quality expectations are well-defined.
• Supervise Web Services engineers and contractors, providing coaching, feedback, prioritization, performance support, and fostering team development.
• Handle team budget and resource planning, including inputs for contractors, vendors, tooling, services, operational expenses, and headcount.
• Convert product direction, technical priorities, and organizational requirements into cohesive engineering plans.
• Develop team processes, workflows, planning methodologies, and operating rhythms that enhance clarity, accountability, quality, and predictability.
• Retain sufficient product and architectural knowledge to assess trade-offs, identify risks, and manage engineering tasks effectively.
• Enhance engineering practices concerning code reviews, testing, documentation, release readiness, observability, technical debt, and operational preparedness.
• Facilitate launch and operational readiness in collaboration with technical and cross-functional partners.
• Clearly communicate progress, priorities, risks, and decisions to stakeholders while nurturing an engineering culture centered on accountability, inclusion, technical excellence, open-source principles, and continuous improvement.
• 15+ years of comprehensive industry experience, with a minimum of 10 years in engineering leadership roles within software products, hosted services, SaaS, cloud applications, communications platforms, or similarly intricate technical settings.
• At least 5 years of experience in people management within an engineering context, encompassing coaching, feedback, prioritization, performance support, career development, and team growth.
• Proven experience in managing senior technical teams, overseeing team budgets and resource planning, and collaborating with directors, senior individual contributors, product stakeholders, infrastructure/SRE teams, contractors, external partners, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Skilled in translating technical, product, or organizational strategies into actionable execution plans, ownership structures, delivery methodologies, operating rhythms, and measurable results.
• Technical expertise sufficient to comprehend engineering trade-offs, release risks, codebase quality, architectural implications, service reliability, security/privacy considerations, operational readiness, and engineering methodologies such as code reviews, testing, documentation, observability, CI/CD, incident learning, and managing technical debt.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, capable of fostering clarity, accountability, and follow-through in small, scaling, ambiguous, or evolving environments.
• Documented experience in thoughtfully assessing and integrating AI-enabled tools into engineering management practices, team workflows, decision-making processes, and productivity enhancements, all while establishing clear expectations regarding accuracy, privacy, security, and responsible usage.
