Engineering Manager – Fiat Payments, Banking Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with a team to deliver products and functionalities that enhance zerohash's fiat infrastructure and banking integrations.

• Work closely with zerohash product and program managers to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the roadmap, allowing the team to effectively plan and execute on anticipated outcomes.

• Lead the team in technical planning to ensure accurate capture of product requirements within the technical architectural design.

• Collaborate with other Engineering Managers to advance the overall technical roadmap.

• Assist the engineering team in achieving high standards of technical excellence and platform resilience.

• Manage processes that enable the team to perform at its best and interact efficiently with the broader zerohash organization.

• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers; assist them in creating career development plans.

• Contribute to organization-wide engineering initiatives as part of zerohash's engineering management team.

• Engage in critical technical, design, and product discussions with leaders from our product, finance, and operations teams.

• Collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders to establish a clear vision for your team.

• Monitor the success of your team's projects and achieve measurable results, particularly concerning payment latency, transaction throughput, and system uptime.

• Maintain competency in our codebase and system architecture (primarily Golang) through consistent development contributions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on building and maintaining reliable backend systems, APIs, and microservices for B2B integration.

• More than 2 years of experience in engineering management, including overseeing senior-level engineers.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

• Proficiency in Golang, with familiarity of Go's idiomatic practices and nuances.

• Technical expertise in Fiat Payments, Banking-as-a-Service, or Fintech, particularly involving traditional fiat networks such as ACH, RTP, FedNow, SEPA, and Swift.

• Proven track record of managing integration with third-party financial services or banking APIs.

• Strong understanding of financial compliance and security standards associated with fiat money movement (e.g., KYC/AML implications for transfers, data privacy).

• Expertise in designing and operating large-scale, distributed systems that handle sensitive financial information and high transaction volumes reliably.

• Experience in driving technical strategy and architectural decisions for complex, highly-available systems.

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of representing the engineering team to external banking partners, clients, and executive stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to work directly with external engineering teams at partner banks to facilitate complex integrations, resolve connection issues, and collect technical feedback.

• Capacity to translate intricate technical concepts (like API architecture, security protocols, and banking constraints) into clear, concise language for both technical and non-technical audiences (e.g., Sales, Product, Legal, and external partners).

• Experience collaborating closely with Product Management to define product requirements, influence technical roadmaps, and balance speed, quality, and technical debt.
