VP of Research and Scientific Communication

📋 Description

• Deliver a strategic vision for the research team and effectively communicate findings to a global audience.

• Collaborate closely with the Chief Commercial Officer and Sales leadership to drive commercial growth.

• Act as a primary spokesperson for Virta’s scientific initiatives at international conferences and presentations.

• Propel the integration of clinical evidence into the essential product development roadmap.

• Lead the formulation of a long-term scientific strategy aimed at transforming the marketplace.

• Cultivate a high-performing team of doctoral-level researchers and provide mentorship.

• Work alongside marketing to convert clinical data into engaging narratives.

• Supervise the collection of economic and clinical outcomes data from diverse sources.

• Actively participate as a member of the leadership team on initiatives focused on evidence-based clinical strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced Academic Qualification: A PhD, MD, or an equivalent research doctorate in HEOR, Epidemiology, Health Economics, or a related quantitative health discipline.

• Extensive Leadership Background: At least 10 years of experience (including a minimum of 5+ years in a senior leadership role) building and scaling research teams in high-growth, start-up, or health-tech settings.

• Demonstrated Commercial Impact: A proven history of leveraging clinical research and RWE to significantly influence and secure major business deals.

• Effective Communication Skills: A strong perspective on how to convey scientific information to various audiences beyond conventional presentation/publication approaches.

• KOL Expert: Experience in developing and implementing KOL engagement strategies, which include formal KOL mapping, identification and prioritization of key stakeholders, advisory board organization, scientific communications, and ongoing relationship management.

• Distinguished Publication Record: Significant experience as a senior author on peer-reviewed publications, particularly focusing on clinical and economic outcomes.

• Metabolic Knowledge: In-depth expertise in metabolic health and behavior change is crucial.

• Technical Acumen: Despite being in an executive position, you must have the technical knowledge required to guide SQL-based data strategies and robust trial designs.

• Executive Presence: Outstanding poise and the ability to assert authority both on stage and in boardroom settings.
