VP of Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of a monthly reconciliation of forecast versus actuals and maintain a driver-based rolling forecast, ensuring that the year-end close process is efficient for quick re-forecasting.

• Conduct a monthly business review where every significant variance is documented, leading to decisions on whether to hold, reallocate, or cut resources.

• Assess, select, and implement the financial systems infrastructure, and subsequently manage the next annual planning cycle utilizing this system.

• Provide executive leadership with timely, accurate, and concise financial health information to facilitate informed business decision-making.

• Engage regularly in both asynchronous and live discussions with Leadership to support the strategic growth of the company.

• Recruit and onboard a controller and an FP&A analyst, transitioning from execution to a role focused on financial partnership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in finance, including a senior role in FP&A or finance leadership.

• Proven experience managing a monthly close process from start to finish, with an understanding of potential breakdowns.

• Ability to create a driver-based forecast, ensuring that changes in current-month actuals impact full-year guidance and operational inputs, such as inventory.

• Experience evaluating and implementing a financial systems stack, with the discernment to determine if new systems are necessary.

• Comfortable managing a wide-ranging, under-resourced scope independently, prioritizing tasks deliberately until a supporting team is formed.

• Experience working in a venture-backed, high-growth environment.

• Excellent written communication skills: capable of articulating complex financial decisions in a manner that enables non-financial stakeholders to act without needing further clarification.

• Preferred: Experience in hiring and building a small finance team (controller, FP&A).

• Familiarity with revenue timing and cash-flow intricacies, such as deferred revenue, or the ability to quickly learn these concepts.

• Experience in the DTC/consumer or healthcare/diagnostics sectors.

• Ability to persuade a skeptical decision-maker based on the strength of the argument rather than positional authority.

• CPA certification or equivalent qualification.

• Experience participating in a priced equity round (Series A/B) from the company’s perspective.
