VP of Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Lead and expand a distributed engineering organization focused on core database infrastructure, cloud platforms, and developer experience — taking responsibility for hiring, culture, and team structure.

• Collaborate with the leadership team on product roadmaps and architectural choices, transforming company strategy into actionable engineering plans.

• Enhance reliability, performance, and speed across Qdrant's core engine, Qdrant Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, and new products such as Cloud Inference and Qdrant Edge.

• Establish standards for engineering excellence: code quality, incident response, observability, and the operational cadence necessary for managing a large-scale production database.

• Work in close partnership with Product, Developer Relations, and Customer Success to ensure that engineering initiatives are closely aligned with the requirements of Qdrant's developer community and enterprise clients.

• Define and manage the engineering hiring strategy to achieve ambitious growth objectives, with an emphasis on Rust, distributed systems, and machine learning infrastructure talent.

• Advocate for a culture of rigor, accountability, and craftsmanship — the type of culture that creates a custom storage engine from the ground up when existing solutions don't meet performance demands.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in engineering leadership, including senior positions in cloud/platform engineering.

• Proven experience in building and scaling B2B SaaS platforms.

• Demonstrated success in managing distributed teams.

• Extensive expertise with Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures.

• Experience in managing high-scale, production-critical infrastructure.

• Familiarity with enterprise security and compliance frameworks.
