This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead both frontend and backend excellence across the team’s offerings, ensuring high reliability for clients and engineers alike.
• Design backend systems utilizing contemporary design patterns and technologies.
• Collaborate with Product, Security, UX, and Design teams to advance a customer-focused technical roadmap.
• Assess new agentic tools, open source technologies, and vendor solutions.
• Incorporate a security-oriented approach to all products and services.
• Leverage data and retrospectives to enhance team productivity and overall well-being.
• Establish performance benchmarks based on roadmap achievements, technical excellence, and individual development.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers through practical guidance.
• Provide mentorship to senior engineers and delegate leadership tasks effectively.
• Handle challenging conversations with empathy, fostering an environment conducive to team success.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in software development, with a strong background as an individual contributor.
• At least 3 years of direct experience in people management: leading teams, mentoring engineers, or taking on tech-lead responsibilities with personnel oversight.
• Proven history of successfully launching and managing full stack, production-scale projects with strict SLOs.
• Extensive understanding of identity access management and other security products aimed at developers.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or a comparable programming language, sufficient to review code, assess technical designs, and engage in credible technical discussions.
• Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure, including GCP (or equivalent cloud platforms), serverless applications such as Cloud Run, AWS Lambda, or Azure Functions, and Terraform.
• An instinct for AI: adeptness with AI coding assistants and a proven track record of how they impact team workflows.
• Knowledge of ReBAC and ABAC, including Zanzibar-style systems such as Auth0 FGA, OpenFGA, or SpiceDB.
• Experience in multi-tenant account modeling, encompassing business accounts, organizations, workspaces, teams, and hierarchies of roles and permissions.
• Understanding of GraphQL API design, federation, and gateway architectures.
• Background in search and indexing services such as Elasticsearch and event-driven data pipelines like Pub/Sub.
• Familiarity with notification services for in-product alerts, webhooks, SMS, email, and other third-party integrations.
• Proven experience in phasing out legacy systems and executing incremental migrations without disrupting customer experience.
• Experience with vendor assessments and build-vs-buy evaluations.
• Familiarity with developer-facing CLIs and public APIs.
