This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the Data Collection team in developing and managing systems that discover, scan, and aggregate Internet data.
• Take ownership of people leadership, technical planning, delivery, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with Product, Research, Security, Infrastructure, and engineering teams on significant investments.
• Mentor, coach, and nurture Scanner Engineers and Distributed Systems Engineers.
• Establish standards for accountability, quality, teamwork, delivery, and operational duties.
• Develop growth strategies, delegate responsibilities, and oversee hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations.
• Outline the Data Collection roadmap and align priorities with measurable results.
• Manage project scope, dependencies, staffing, and associated risks.
• Oversee major projects from initial discovery through to production delivery.
• Direct architectural decisions regarding scanning, orchestration, protocol implementations, distributed services, ingestion pipelines, APIs, and operational tools.
• Set standards for design, testing, rollout safety, observability, service ownership, and operational readiness.
• Ensure system quality, availability, maintainability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Establish metrics for scan execution, pipeline health, data freshness, protocol coverage, failure rates, and resource utilization.
• Promote sustainable on-call and incident management practices.
• Identify architectural bottlenecks and technical debt while prioritizing recommendations.
• Enhance operational visibility, service ownership, incident management, technical debt resolution, and delivery predictability.
• Minimum of three years of engineering management or team leadership experience.
• Proven history of leading a significant technical initiative from planning to production delivery.
• Previous experience as a software or systems engineer responsible for building and operating production systems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and networking essentials, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and TLS.
• Experience with data-intensive systems such as streaming services, ingestion pipelines, message queues, databases, schedulers, or high-throughput APIs.
• Experienced in managing critical systems in production, including monitoring, incident response, capacity planning, and reliability enhancement.
• Technical expertise to engage in architecture discussions, evaluate implementation risks, and facilitate complex incident analyses.
• Demonstrated ability to develop engineers through coaching, feedback, and delegation.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Remote employees must reside within the continental United States.
