This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the enhancement of both frontend and backend services across the team, ensuring high reliability for both customers and engineers.
• Design and architect backend systems utilizing modern design patterns and technologies.
• Collaborate with Product, Security, UX, and Design teams to create a customer-focused technical roadmap.
• Assess new agentic tools, open source technologies, and vendor offerings.
• Implement a security-oriented approach across all products and services.
• Leverage data and retrospectives to boost team productivity and overall well-being.
• Establish performance benchmarks based on roadmap achievements, technical excellence, and individual development.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers through practical guidance.
• Provide mentorship to senior engineers by assigning leadership roles and fostering developmental opportunities.
• Handle challenging conversations with empathy and create an environment conducive to team success.
• Over 8 years of experience in software development, with a strong foundation as an individual contributor.
• At least 3 years of direct management experience: leading teams, mentoring engineers, or fulfilling tech lead roles with personnel responsibilities.
• Proven history of successfully launching and managing full stack, production-scale projects with strict service level objectives (SLOs).
• Extensive knowledge of identity access management and other security products aimed at developers.
• Proficient in Go, Python, or a comparable language, sufficient to review code, assess technical designs, and engage meaningfully in technical discussions.
• Familiar with cloud-native infrastructure, such as GCP (or equivalent cloud), serverless applications like Cloud Run, AWS Lambda, or Azure Functions, and Terraform.
• Strong instincts for AI, including fluency with AI coding assistants and an understanding of their impact on team workflows.
• Awareness of ReBAC and ABAC, including Zanzibar-style systems such as Auth0 FGA, OpenFGA, or SpiceDB.
• Understanding of multi-tenant account models, including business accounts, organizations, workspaces, teams, and role and permission hierarchies.
• Knowledge of GraphQL API design, federation, and gateway architectures.
• Familiar with Elasticsearch or related search and indexing services, as well as Pub/Sub or analogous event-driven data pipelines.
• Experienced with notification services for in-product messaging, webhooks, SMS, email, and third-party integrations.
• Background in phasing out legacy systems and executing incremental migrations without disrupting customer service.
• Experience in evaluating vendors and performing build-vs-buy analyses.
• Familiarity with developer-facing command line interfaces (CLIs) and public APIs.
