This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +1 more state.
• Oversee all elements of the actuarial practice for The Hanover’s Core Commercial Lines portfolio.
• Contribute to the formulation of Core Commercial business strategy and develop solutions in uncertain situations.
• Manage actuarial, data science, and integration teams.
• Enhance pricing sophistication, portfolio management, rate development and execution, third-party data integration, and competitive intelligence.
• Share responsibility and accountability for profitability across Core Commercial lines and overall business unit performance.
• Advise senior management and business leaders on the best courses of action.
• Act as a representative of the organization to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Engage in strategy development and ensure the effective execution of business strategies.
• Track trends in results and profitability by line, product, state, industry, and business unit.
• Guide the execution of necessary manual-rate filings across various lines and jurisdictions while providing policy/account-level pricing guidance.
• Enhance actuarial and data science processes, models, and methodologies.
• Promote operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Present findings and recommendations, influence decisions, and facilitate their implementation.
• Collaborate with internal and external clients to set and achieve priorities and goals.
• Work alongside actuarial and analytics leaders to develop actuarial skills and data science expertise.
• Partner with technology, data science, and data collaborators on governance and compliance matters.
• Utilize AI and automation to enhance productivity and outcomes.
• Oversee team performance and compensation.
• Manage the financial budget and metrics for the relevant function.
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a pertinent technical field.
• Over 10 years of technical experience, including a minimum of 10 years in a management role.
• FCAS Designation is mandatory.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to articulate complex actuarial and data science concepts to business partners effectively.
• Solid understanding of unit/corporate strategy, financial objectives, and industry trends.
• Proven track record of success in a matrixed organization and across various businesses and functional areas.
• Demonstrated proficiency in all techniques for modeling different assumptions.
• Expertise in data, modeling, and monitoring in alignment with business objectives.
• Experience navigating state regulatory environments.
• Capable of applying and interpreting company policies and procedures.
