This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the financial strategy for LEE, LEE Foundation, and PAC entities.
• Provide counsel to the Executive Director and Leadership Team on financial strategy, scenario planning, and organizational decisions.
• Prepare financial reports, analyses, materials, and recommendations for Board oversight.
• Develop and oversee resource allocation, forecasts, and expenditures.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, financial reporting, consolidation, intercompany activities, and cost allocation.
• Enhance, document, and monitor internal controls and segregation of duties.
• Translate compliance requirements related to political activities into accounting structures and practices.
• Manage relationships with external parties and oversee audit processes involving auditors, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
• Direct organization-wide and team budgeting processes.
• Improve forecasting models and create multi-year forecasts and scenario plans.
• Deliver financial analyses, reports, dashboards, and recommendations to senior leaders and the Board.
• Formulate treasury management strategies, including banking relationships, cash management, and reserve investment recommendations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a two-person finance team.
• Evaluate team structure and capabilities, shaping roles to meet current and future needs.
• Oversee integrations and automation using Sage Intacct, ADP, Ramp, and Paystand.
• Assess and implement FP&A and reporting tools, incorporating automation and AI where beneficial.
• Advocate for scalable, technology-enabled financial controls and security.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; an additional 4 years of relevant experience is required if lacking a Bachelor's degree.
• Associate’s degree with an additional 2 years of relevant experience is acceptable.
• Over 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
• Senior finance leadership experience, such as CFO, VP or Director of Finance, or Controller, with substantial accounting responsibility in an organization with a budget of at least $15M.
• In-depth, hands-on accounting expertise, including ownership of closing processes, financial reporting, audits, and nonprofit accounting.
• Experience managing accounting for multiple legal entities, including consolidation, intercompany activities, and cost allocation.
• Proven track record of enhancing internal controls and segregation of duties, addressing control gaps or audit findings.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and financial analysis for senior leaders.
• Experience leading the implementation or integration of a cloud ERP or core financial system, including change management.
• Strong people management experience with a player-coach approach.
• Ability to clearly communicate financial information to non-finance leaders and collaborate effectively within a geographically dispersed team.
• Alignment with LEE’s mission, core values, and theory of change.
• CPA is highly preferred; MBA is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct, particularly in a multi-entity environment with integrations.
• Experience with accounting for 501(c)(3)/501(c)(4) organizations or political action committees.
• Experience leading FP&A, including the selection or implementation of FP&A or reporting tools.
• Experience with treasury management and reserve investment strategies.
• Experience utilizing AI-enabled analytics and reporting tools.
• Experience in managing a remote team.
• Willingness to travel for in-person meetings in various U.S. cities.
• Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required.
