This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create and implement a proactive communications strategy for the CEO, encompassing speeches, op-eds, thought leadership, stakeholder briefings, and social and digital engagement to enhance Brian Pieninck's reputation as a credible and visible leader in the health care and business sectors.
• Collaborate with the SVP and senior leadership throughout the organization to craft communications that reflect individual voices, advance the overall narrative, and bolster credibility with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist in the creation of Board-facing communication materials in coordination with the SVP and executive leadership team.
• Take ownership of the internal and external narrative for Future Ready, ensuring that the scale, purpose, and human aspects of GuideWell's transformation are conveyed with clarity, consistency, and authenticity across all audiences and channels.
• Spearhead a proactive media relations strategy that fosters positive coverage of GuideWell, Florida Blue, and Triple-S, highlighting stories related to mission, community impact, innovation, and member outcomes while minimizing the organization's reactive exposure.
• Act as the communications lead for sensitive issues, policy developments, and reputational threats, crafting response strategies, preparing spokespersons, and coordinating cross-functional responses with agility and discipline.
• Maintain and continually enhance the organization's crisis communications capabilities, including playbooks, spokesperson training, scenario planning, and real-time response protocols to ensure readiness at all times.
• Develop and oversee the enterprise narrative architecture to ensure that GuideWell's story, purpose, and unique value propositions are consistently communicated across all external audiences and platforms.
• Lead the enterprise social media strategy and digital reputation management, ensuring seamless integration with brand and marketing initiatives within the CMX function.
• Oversee the internal communications strategy for GuideWell's workforce, creating content, channels, and rhythms that keep employees informed, connected to the mission, and genuinely engaged, particularly during times of change.
• Serve as the strategic communications partner for enterprise-wide transformation, devising multi-channel strategies to translate complex organizational changes into clear, meaningful employee experiences that maintain momentum beyond just announcing milestones.
• Collaborate with Human Resources and senior leadership to make GuideWell's values evident in internal communications, fostering a sense of belonging, celebrating the individuals behind the mission, and ensuring that culture is an experience for employees rather than just words on a page.
• Empower managers and leaders throughout the organization to communicate effectively by developing toolkits, talking points, and cascade frameworks that guarantee consistent and credible communication from the C-suite to the front lines.
• Lead and refine the master narrative that serves as the foundation for both internal and external communications, ensuring that the GuideWell enterprise story is coherent, distinctive, and rooted in mission rather than mere marketing language.
• Collaborate closely with the VP of Enterprise Marketing & Customer Acquisition and the Senior Director of Brand & Creative to align the tone, language, and storytelling of communications with brand strategy and the overall member and customer experience.
• Establish a thought leadership platform that positions GuideWell, Florida Blue, and Triple-S as credible and forward-thinking voices within the health care sector, engaging through media, conferences, and community initiatives.
• Ensure that community investments, partnerships, and social impact efforts are communicated in ways that authentically connect to our mission, rather than being treated as an afterthought in marketing.
• Develop and manage the enterprise communications framework, establishing shared standards, narrative architecture, channel strategy, and measurement methodologies that span GuideWell, Florida Blue, Triple-S, and GuideWell's portfolio of health solutions subsidiaries.
• Act as the standard-setter for enterprise communications and strategic partner for subsidiary communications leaders, ensuring consistency in voice, narrative, and reputation strategy while respecting the unique market contexts of Florida, Puerto Rico, and GuideWell's other business lines.
• Collaborate with peers across the CMX Leadership Team, including the VP of Enterprise Marketing & Customer Acquisition, the VP of Enterprise Voice of Customer & Insights, and the VP of Customer Experience & Engagement, to ensure the integration of communications strategy with marketing, brand, and customer experience at every level.
• Lead and develop a high-performing communications team specializing in strategic communications, reputation management, and enterprise storytelling, recruiting, retaining, and nurturing talent capable of performing at the highest levels of the discipline.
• Establish AI-enabled communications capabilities, advocating for the responsible adoption of AI tools and data analytics to enhance content quality, production speed, measurement, and audience targeting across all communication channels.
• Implement robust measurement practices, employing a data-driven approach to assess communications effectiveness, which includes media analytics, employee sentiment tracking, executive visibility metrics, and enterprise reputation monitoring.
• Cultivate a culture of craftsmanship, upholding high standards for writing, clarity, and strategic thinking within the team, while fostering an environment where creative ambition is encouraged and speed does not compromise quality.
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Over 15 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, or related fields, with a minimum of 8 years in senior or executive leadership positions.
• Experience in health insurance and health care, with a working understanding of the reputational and compliance dynamics that influence enterprise communications strategy.
• A proven history of managing both proactive and reactive media relations in high-scrutiny environments, including issues management and crisis communications on an enterprise scale.
• Demonstrated success in developing C-suite communications strategies, including CEO and executive platform development, speech writing, media preparation, and thought leadership initiatives.
• Transformation Experience: Experience guiding communications through significant organizational changes, including executive alignment, transformation narrative development, and maintaining employee engagement during prolonged uncertainty.
• Extensive experience leading employee and change communications within a large, complex workforce, showcasing the ability to sustain engagement through organizational transformation.
