📋 Description

• Oversee all facets of the actuarial practice for The Hanover’s Core Commercial Lines portfolio.

• Contribute to the formulation of Core Commercial business strategy and address challenges amidst uncertainty.

• Lead teams in actuarial, data science, and integration efforts.

• Enhance pricing sophistication, manage portfolios, develop and execute rates, integrate third-party data, and conduct competitive intelligence.

• Share responsibility and accountability for profitability across Core Commercial lines and overall business unit performance.

• Advise senior management and business leaders on suitable actions.

• Represent the organization to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Engage in strategy formulation and ensure successful execution of business strategies.

• Track trends in results and profitability by line of business and/or product within the portfolio.

• Direct the execution of appropriate manual rates across various lines and jurisdictions, providing guidance on policy/account-level collected prices.

• Promote continuous enhancement of actuarial and data science procedures, models, and methodologies.

• Foster operational efficiency and effectiveness.

• Present insights and recommendations, influence decision-making, and aid in implementation.

• Collaborate with internal and external clients to set and achieve priorities and objectives.

• Work alongside Actuarial and Analytics Leadership to cultivate actuarial development and data science expertise.

• Partner with technology, data science, and data collaborators on governance and compliance matters.

• Utilize AI and automation to maximize productivity and results.

• Manage team performance and compensation structures.

• Oversee financial budgets and metrics relevant to the function.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant technical discipline.

• Over 10 years of technical experience, including at least 10 years in a management role.

• FCAS Designation is mandatory.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capacity to clarify complex actuarial and data science concepts to business partners.

• Familiarity with unit/corporate strategy, financial objectives, and industry trends.

• Proven track record in a matrixed organization, navigating various businesses and functional domains.

• Demonstrated proficiency in all techniques employed to model diverse assumptions.

• Expertise in data, modeling, and monitoring to support business goals.

• Experience with state regulatory environments.

• Ability to apply and interpret company policies and procedures effectively.
