This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +5 more states.
• Spearhead and refine the Bank's AML/CFT governance framework.
• Create and uphold governance standards for policies, procedures, oversight routines, and escalation processes.
• Supervise AML/CFT governance committees and working groups, including setting agendas, managing issue escalation, organizing meetings, documenting decisions, and tracking actions.
• Evaluate AML/CFT processes and provide constructive challenge and oversight.
• Manage the lifecycle of AML/CFT program issues and corrective action plans.
• Monitor and report on financial crime risks and the effectiveness of controls.
• Act as the primary liaison during regulatory examinations, audits, and independent reviews.
• Keep abreast of regulatory developments, enforcement actions, and industry trends.
• Lead the AML/CFT Quality Control program and implement a risk-based quality control framework.
• Conduct trend analysis and root cause evaluations.
• Set quality standards, review methodologies, sampling protocols, and performance metrics.
• Oversee remediation efforts and validate corrective actions.
• Develop and communicate quality metrics and performance outcomes.
• Supervise executive management and committee reporting for the AML/CFT Compliance Program.
• Create management information systems, dashboards, scorecards, and reporting packages.
• Establish and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Key Control Indicators (KCIs).
• Analyze trends associated with transaction monitoring, suspicious activities, sanctions screening, customer risk profiles, investigations, and quality control outcomes.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency in reporting data.
• Present program performance, risk trends, control effectiveness, regulatory updates, and remediation progress to executive leadership.
• Collaborate with Technology and Data Management teams to enhance reporting, automation, data governance, and operational efficiency.
• Generate ad hoc reports and analyses for strategic initiatives, examinations, audits, and regulatory inquiries.
• Provide strategic leadership for Governance, Quality Control, and Reporting teams.
• Build, develop, and maintain a high-performing team through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and professional growth.
• Set performance expectations, accountability standards, and departmental objectives.
• Direct resource planning and workforce management.
• Advise AML/CFT leadership on governance, quality assurance, reporting, and financial crime risk issues.
• Partner with executives, regulators, auditors, and business line leaders.
• Lead strategic initiatives and organizational change efforts.
• Foster accountability, sound risk management, and compliance across the enterprise.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Criminal Justice, Compliance, or a related field.
• Master's degree is preferred.
• CAMS, CFCS, or CRCM preferred qualifications.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in AML/CFT Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Compliance, or related regulatory functions within the banking sector.
• Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience overseeing teams and complex compliance operations.
• Experience in governance, quality control, quality assurance, compliance testing, reporting, or oversight functions within a regulated financial institution.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering regulations, OFAC regulations, FinCEN requirements, the USA PATRIOT Act, and related banking regulations.
• Proven experience in developing and delivering reports for executive-level, Board, Risk Committee, and Compliance Committee audiences.
• Experience managing regulatory examinations, internal audits, independent testing reviews, and remediation programs.
• Familiarity with operating within a mid-sized or large financial institution, preferably one with assets exceeding $8 billion.
• Ability to influence stakeholders, lead strategic initiatives, and promote cross-functional collaboration in a highly regulated environment.
• Strong written, verbal, analytical, and presentation skills.
