This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +1 more state.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive risk strategy across the enterprise that aligns with the company’s mission for live events.
• Collaborate with executives, venue operators, and regional leaders to integrate risk awareness into business planning and decision-making processes.
• Provide guidance to senior leadership on risk trends, emerging threats, and prioritization of mitigation strategies.
• Oversee risk assessments for various venues and live events, including concerts, festivals, touring shows, sports events, and special productions.
• Work alongside the internal security team to establish crowd management, security, and emergency response protocols.
• Evaluate and manage risks associated with talent, staging, pyrotechnics, weather, and other operational hazards.
• Design and administer global insurance programs.
• Negotiate insurance coverage, terms, and premiums with brokers and underwriters.
• Examine event contracts, vendor agreements, and talent deals for indemnification, hold-harmless, and insurance clauses.
• Lead the claims management process, which includes reporting, documenting, tracking, and resolving claims.
• Collaborate with internal teams, insurers, legal counsel, and third-party claims administrators.
• Monitor adherence to international, national, and local regulations related to live events.
• Maintain the enterprise risk management framework across various business units and geographical areas.
• Align risk mitigation strategies with strategic growth initiatives in collaboration with finance, legal, and operations teams.
• Oversee employee management through interviewing, hiring, training, work assignments, performance evaluations, rewards, disciplinary actions, and problem resolution.
• A Bachelor’s degree in risk management, Business Administration, Safety Engineering, or a related field is required.
• A Master’s degree (MBA or similar) is preferred.
• Professional certifications such as ARM, CRM, FRM, CPCU, or CEM are strongly preferred.
• A minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in risk management.
• At least 5 years of experience in the live event, sports, entertainment, or large-scale public gathering sectors.
• Proven track record in managing global safety and risk programs for high-attendance, high-profile events.
• Demonstrated expertise in insurance program design, contract risk assessment, and large-scale incident management.
• In-depth knowledge of crowd safety, event operations, and regulatory compliance within the live event industry.
• Strong negotiation capabilities with insurers, vendors, and public agencies.
• Ability to make informed decisions in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
• Excellent cross-cultural communication skills for operation in diverse global markets.
• Capacity to perform all essential duties with energy and enthusiasm.
