This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee Havenpark's daily government relations and public affairs operations.
• Safeguard and promote the firm's interests within state and local policy frameworks.
• Assist the CEO and executive team during politically and reputationally sensitive events.
• Maintain an organized and timely assessment of policy and political risks across all jurisdictions.
• Establish and manage a network of state and local lobbyists and public affairs advisors.
• Proactively identify threats related to rent control, vacancy control, zoning, entitlements, and licensing, and lead the firm's defensive strategies.
• Cultivate relationships with key legislators, governors' offices, and state housing agency personnel in priority areas.
• Act as a senior representative for the firm on policy and reputational issues across state, local, and trade media.
• 8-12 years of experience in government affairs and/or public affairs, preferably within a regulated financial services, real estate, or housing-related firm, or at a public affairs agency serving those clients.
• Direct experience engaging with state and local policy issues across various jurisdictions, including hands-on collaboration with outside lobbyists and public affairs consultants.
• Proven track record of building coalitions and advancing policy goals, with or without the backing of trade associations.
• Experience in supporting or leading communication strategies in response to negative media, activist initiatives, or politically sensitive regulatory issues.
• Familiarity with the political and communication aspects of regulatory inquiries (State AG, federal member letters, state regulator investigations) and ability to work collaboratively with legal counsel on these matters.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities; capable of briefing executives and producing high-quality institutional work products.
