Vice President – Government Affairs

📋 Description

• Develop and oversee Fivetran’s government affairs and political strategy from inception.

• Create and implement a thorough lobbying and policy engagement strategy that aligns with the company's objectives.

• Formulate and oversee Fivetran’s political engagement strategy, which includes campaign contributions, PAC/C4 alignment, and external political relationships.

• Build and sustain relationships with policymakers, regulators, trade associations, and industry coalitions.

• Spearhead the creation of Fivetran’s policy positions, including drafting briefs, comment letters, and external communications.

• Utilize an AI-driven policy function to monitor legislative and regulatory changes in data, AI, privacy, competition/antitrust, and technology sectors, identify and engage stakeholders, and devise engagement strategies and policy positioning to provide actionable recommendations throughout the organization.

• Assist with regulatory strategy, investigations, and potential litigation efforts.

• Recognize and mitigate policy or regulatory risks stemming from competitors or market dynamics.

• Serve as the primary coordinator for all government affairs-related communications and engagement, ensuring cohesion across Legal, Communications, and executive leadership.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, political strategy, or similar fields.

• Demonstrated success in establishing and leading government affairs or policy functions, preferably within tech or a highly regulated sector.

• Extensive knowledge of the U.S. political and regulatory systems, including lobbying, campaign finance, and policy development.

• Strong connections with U.S. Federal, State, and local policymakers, regulators, and political stakeholders.

• Experience providing counsel to senior executives and coordinating high-level government engagements.

• Capability to work independently as a founding leader in a fast-paced, startup environment.

• Outstanding communication and influencing abilities, including experience in shaping policy narratives and external positioning.

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as political science, government, or equivalent experience; a JD, MPP/MPA is also welcomed but not mandatory.
