This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pakistan.
• Lead and enhance the financial control framework within the bank by ensuring effective governance, oversight of controls, integrity in accounting, and management of financial risks across diverse products, processes, systems, and regions.
• Supervise and bolster the bank’s financial control framework across various products, processes, systems, and geographical areas.
• Conduct second-line oversight and monitoring of governance concerning sundry and suspense accounts, including analyzing aging balances, threshold violations, unresolved items, and associated risk exposures.
• Ensure the prompt identification, escalation, tracking, and resolution of aged or high-risk balances in collaboration with Operations, Finance, Technology, and business teams.
• Evaluate and analyze financial control risks that arise from operational procedures, accounting practices, reconciliations, and system workflows.
• Serve as the primary contact for financial control issues related to major projects, product launches, process modifications, and transformation initiatives.
• Review all requests for new product and process approvals to ensure that accounting, reconciliation, financial reporting, and control requirements are accurately identified, documented, executed, and tested prior to implementation.
• Ensure that accounting treatments for both new and existing products align with relevant accounting standards, regulatory expectations, and internal policies.
• Analyze the effects of system upgrades, process modifications, automation efforts, and technological advancements on financial controls, accounting flows, reconciliations, and reporting integrity before deployment.
• Confirm that key reconciliations, substantiation processes, and financial control activities are functioning effectively and supported by adequate governance and documentation.
• Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit, and external auditors on matters concerning financial control, observations, and remediation efforts.
• Assist with internal audits, regulatory reviews, and external audit evaluations by providing analysis, documentation, and timely resolution of action items.
• Promote ongoing improvement in financial controls through automation, digitization, enhancements in data governance, and AI-enabled monitoring capabilities.
• Support the implementation of control dashboards, automated reconciliations, exception management tools, and intelligent monitoring solutions.
• Identify control gaps, operational risks, and weaknesses in processes, and propose practical remediation and governance enhancements.
• Provide management reporting, risk insights, and updates on control status to senior management and governance boards.
• Foster a strong culture of financial control, governance discipline, accountability, and operational transparency throughout the bank.
• Chartered Accountant with 15-18 years of pertinent banking experience in Financial Control, Finance, Regulatory Reporting, Product Control, or related functions.
• Experience in sizable banking environments that involve complex products, systems, and operations across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong familiarity with new product approval processes, governance of reconciliations, accounting control frameworks, and interactions with audits/regulators.
• Preferred experience in financial control transformation, automation, digitization, or large-scale enhancements to processes.
• Solid understanding of IFRS, banking products, financial reporting processes, and regulatory expectations applicable to financial control settings.
• Knowledge of system workflows, accounting interfaces, product lifecycle processes, and principles of control governance.
• Awareness of automation, digitization, data governance, and practices related to AI-enabled control monitoring.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills.
• Excellent skills in stakeholder management and communication.
• A solid control-oriented mindset with a keen attention to detail and governance discipline.
• Capability to assess intricate operational and accounting procedures and identify control implications.
