
Verification Scientist I, GHG Forestry

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Perform assessments and lead audits in accordance with voluntary and compliance carbon offset standards.
• Evaluate management practices and project documentation associated with carbon projects.
• Analyze documents and conduct quantitative assessments, including inventory calculations, forest growth and yield models, GIS, and remote sensing data.
• Carry out site visits, interviews, forest reconnaissance, and assessments of forest inventory practices.
• Provide verification findings and compose technical audit reports.
• Supervise contract auditors and consultants.
• Manage audit processes in collaboration with clients, ensuring the collection of necessary data and information.
• Address client inquiries and concerns while ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Oversee a simultaneous portfolio of audits with appropriate support and supervision.
• Stay updated on program standards and protocols, suggesting program modifications for ISO compliance.
• Engage in internal and external audits as well as auditor training.
• Bachelor's Degree in Forestry or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a relevant field.
• Familiarity with standard forest inventory techniques in practical settings.
• Experience utilizing field measurement techniques.
• Proficient in ArcGIS and/or remote sensing software.
• Strong quantitative analytical skills.
• Outstanding writing, communication, and organizational abilities.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Access.
• Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently under pressure in a dynamic environment.
• Adaptable and responsive in a team setting.
• Willingness to travel domestically for audit purposes.
• Preference for candidates with a Master's Degree or higher in a relevant scientific field.
• Preferred experience in biometrics, statistics, growth and yield modeling, financial analysis, and/or natural resource economics.
• California Registered Professional Forester, other Certified Forester credentials, ARB-accredited Lead Verifier, or CAR Lead Verifier preferred.
