VDC BIM Modeler

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Create and sustain discipline-specific 3D models (e.g., electrical) utilizing contract documents, detailing inputs, and field markups.

• Revise and adjust BIM models in response to design modifications, RFIs, and coordination feedback.

• Ensure models are precise, organized, and ready for exports or deliverables (e.g., prefabrication sheets, shop drawings).

• Implement company BIM standards, templates, and naming conventions in all modeling tasks.

• Adhere to project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and coordination protocols as outlined by the VDC BIM Coordinator and VDC/BIM Manager.

• Conduct quality checks on model elements to verify compliance with standards and readiness for coordination or export.

• Collaborate with VDC/BIM Coordinators and VDC/BIM Detailers to facilitate model integration, clash resolution, and construction alignment.

• Detect potential clashes or constructability issues and escalate them to the BIM Coordinator for resolution.

• Highlight discrepancies between backgrounds and design intent and inform the BIM Coordinator for resolution.

• Assist in creating installation drawings, prefabrication sheets, and model exports to enhance construction and fabrication workflows.

• Aid in the development of dimensioned views and model exports for detailing to bridge the gap between modeling and field-ready documentation.

• Coordinate with the manufacturing team to ensure modeled elements fulfill prefab requirements.

• Resolve modeling issues and provide support to team members with BIM software tools, standards, and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Certificate or equivalent experience in modeling technologies and/or electrical field experience.

• 2+ years of modeling experience.

• Proficiency in Revit; familiarity with Navisworks/ACC is a plus.

• Basic understanding of prefab workflows and constructability.
